A 1976 LX Torana hatchback reimagined as a tribute to Peter Brock's legendary 1979 Bathurst-winning A9X. Designed, rendered, wrapped, and revealed.
The A9-XHDT started as a personal project — a way to use The Render Garage's own capabilities to build something meaningful. Matt Barnsley's LX Torana hatchback, owned since he was 16, became the canvas.
The concept: a unique tribute to Peter Brock's legendary 1979 Bathurst-winning A9X Holden Torana, but reimagined with a modern edge. Every detail was designed digitally first — paint scheme, livery elements, wheel selection, body details — before a single vinyl strip was cut.
The result was featured in Street Machine and became one of The Render Garage's most recognised projects. It proved the concept: design it, render it, build it.
In 2023, the A9-XHDT was badly damaged in a crash. Its story continues as the ReSSurXion project.
The car has a lot of sentimental importance to me. It was my first car. I met my wife because of it. We're going to bring it back to life — bigger and better.
